Hole 9

Take a moment to enjoy the view of the clubhouse, The drive should be aimed towards the right side of the fairway (right edge of the main clubhouse) which sits below the tee, but beware the fairway bunkers and out of bounds that will catch any mishit shots to the left. The right side looks fairly open but miss the fairway here and some deep rough will make getting up in two very hard indeed. The second shot is played to a raised green and like so many holes at St George’s Hill it plays longer than the yardage. The green is guarded by a heathery knoll to the left and a newly reshaped bunker short right, anything slightly short will run backwards and leave a tricky chip. Once on the green you will still have a lot of work to do unless you are immediately below the hole. The contours mean that the borrows can be significant and anything above the pin needs very careful attention.
